This study explores the role of ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs) in dentistry. It investigates the use of LLMs to enhance the accuracy of dental diagnoses, improve the efficiency of patient-clinician communication, and ameliorate the complexities of daily clinical activities. The study focuses on the ability of these advanced AI tools to process and interpret dental-specific information and their support in decision-making and patient involvement. The potential role of next-generation LLMs such as ChatGPT-4 in optimizing dental practices, especially in surgical contexts, is reviewed. This paper takes a futuristic approach to conversational AI in dental healthcare.
